Golf Courses

There are a large number of courses around Burgie and listed below are but a few of the more established courses.

Forres Golf Club - 5 miles - designed by Open Championship winners James Braid and Willie Park the Par 70 course is just less than 6300 yards from the tips and although not the longest by today's standards it provides a good test for golfers of all abilities. Well known for its spectacular views over Findhorn Bay and the Moray Firth, Forres Golf Course is a beautifully maintained, picturesque and interesting layout that will satisfy all who play it.  www.forresgolfclub.co.uk

Nairn Golf Club - 14 miles - this Championship Course nestles on the shores of the Moray Firth.  This Traditional Scottish Golf Links Course was created from a Highland wilderness of gorse and heather, and tests the talents of professional and amateur alike. Considered to be one of the best courses in Scotland, and has hosted The Walker Cup and in 2012 will host The Curtis Cup.  www.nairngolfclub.co.uk

Moray Golf Club - Lossiemouth - 12 miles - 2 courses - The Old Course (Championship) is considered to be one of the finest links courses in Scotland. A classic links designed by Old Tom Morris with deep revetted bunkers, undulating gorse lined fairways and smooth fast greens. It is a superb test of golf with seven par fours over 400 yards.

On the New Course the preference for precision golf can be seen as it is shorter but somewhat tighter.  The greens are smaller than the Old but every bit as good, and equally challenging.  www.moraygolf.co.uk

Elgin Golf Club - 9 miles - Elgin Golf Club is a testing heathland course in immaculate condition, measuring 6401 yards with par of 69 and a standard scratch of 71, fully justifying its claim to be one of the finest inland courses in the northern part of Scotland which can test handicaps both low and high.  www.elgingolfclub.co.uk

Royal Dornoch - 70 miles - 2 courses - Over the years the Championship course has been tweaked and enhanced by greats such as John Sutherland and our own ex-professional and greenkeeper, Donald Ross.
